Students acquire basic sociology-based knowledge and fieldwork research methods. And then, they approach the solution of social issues from a variety of research fields. We emphasize the sequence of learning on the spot, suspecting common sense, and offering solutions.
In addition to cultivating the ability to perceive contemporary society from the three perspectives such as"local communities (people)," "resources (goods)," and "institutions (systems)," students will acquire research, discovery, consideration, management, and solution skills through "fieldwork," in which they actually visit places to conduct surveys and research.
In the third year, students choose a seminar that matches their interests from 10 research fields, including cultural anthropology, folklore, environmental studies, tourism studies, museum studies, and sociology of sports, to explore their own research themes.
